Back to Nursery Tag

We all did the normal stereoscopic stuff like A for Apple when we were small. Kudos to the blogville, they made me say my new list of ABCs. I was tagged by Durga.

A – Anjali. My best friend. She is someone who suffers all my pestering without any complains. I think she enjoys it ;-)

B – Bollywood, my passion.

C – Clothes. I love buying clothes, for myself and for people. I love wearing new clothes and seeing others wearing their new ones. I can sit and admire or criticize people endlessly…as per my taste. Oh yes, I’m a total girl :-)

D – Drama. Its something that I have been doing since I was very small. I started talking when I was only 8 months old and I used to say with utmost conviction of misery in my voice “Meenu paawwwmmm aauu” when I was given medicines. It meant, Meenu is pawam (ill) so give her the medicines instead of me ;-)

E – Europe. I’d love to visit this place once.

F – Family. My life revolves around these people. I can’t imagine my life without my parents and sister.

G – Ganesh, my Nephew, my unofficially adopted son, non-biologically my first child ;-)

H – Happiness. Its very essential for me. I hate people who crib always. My funda is that you live happily only when you feel that you can live happily.

I – Izzequasto. Our maths sir in PC says this instead of Is-equal-to. His every class is a riot, mainly because of his accent. He says “Caammaa” for Comma, “Haarsse” for horse, and a lot of blunders! The funniest part is, all the girls sit and laugh, even though they know that there are cameras to keep a check on them.

J – Joblessness. I always wonder how I can be so jobless. Though I would have the entire job in the world, I always feel that I’m jobless!

K – Kerala, the land of strikes! I still love it!

L – Loneliness. Thinking that you are alone – that’s the worst feeling in the world!

M – Meenu, my sister. She’s my best friend since I’m small, and will always remain so. I can shamelessly agree to the fact that I like to be with her more than anyone, even my parents.

O – “Oh-my-God”. I use this phrase VERY frequently.

P - Photographs. I’m totally obsessed with all the photos, old and new. I see them once in a while always and I’m by-heart with each and every one. These memories are something for which I can pay millions without any regrets :-)

Q – “Quiet”. That’s something that I’ve been hearing since I’m small. Yes I talk a lot.

R – Ramya. My name, I love it!

S – Spider Solitaire. I love this game, and I play it always. According to my father, I’m wasting ALL the time in my life by playing this game, just like my sister. Now I get to know, where I get my exaggeration skills from ;-)

T – Technology, something that does not inspire me AT ALL. I don’t know why I chose engineering. I feel I made a wrong choice :-(

U – Utopia. How I wish this world was one!

V – Vegetarian. I'm VERY proud to be a PURE Vegetarian. That brings into be atleast some Bhramin Pride.

W – Water. A very simple compound, but its most essential for us. Its present everywhere, but still, you do so much to drink the clean one. Water conservation is the only environment issue that I take seriously. The way water is wasted now, I’m sure that in some time, we would be earning water, instead of money.

X – Xerox machine. I don’t know what would have been the state of us students without Xerox machines!

Y – Yoghurt, curd. I love curd rice with lots of pickle! Yep, thayir sadam and oorga!

Z – Zorro. I used to love this anime cartoon on Animax. They stopped it and started ame stupid cartoon which I don’t even remember

What a sweet child, Empathy at such an young age is wonderful!

I too hate people who Crib always. They are so pathetic. All they have to do is stop following the shadows and face the sun.

Technology, strikes a chord. But it was never in 'Harmony' with me. I burnt circuit boards and a few computers went up in Smoke during the adventures of my engineering days.

Nicely Done :)

Curd rice with lots of pickle? Yuck! How do you eat it? The combination leaves a rotten taste on the mouth for a long time. At least for me that is a big No-No!

It is okay to be a vegetarian, if the reason behind is you don't want to hurt animals. One can be proud of his/her actions and not because of some family and caste he/she is born into.

I see a lot of Brahmins discriminating against Non-Brahmins with this particular reason and belief that they are superior to others.

Being born in an iyer family and having lived with this community for more than twenty odd years, I have always seen 'Iyengars' forming a seperate gang and rest of the 'Iyers' cluster together.

Shame on you, people! Please change. All are human beings with the inherently divine soul within.

@ Ashok Kumar -
Darling, you seem to have so much against we Bhramins. I'm proud to be a vegetarian, as well as a Bhramin. I can't help it! That does not mean that I "differenciate" with people. Dude, I don't have TIME to think about all that! I guess all the people in new generation are like that! But, I don't think you are like that...I am sure you spend time thinking about caste system! People in olden times were jobless enough to create such problems!
By the way, comments are appreciated in my place, but your comment was sheerly rude, and extremely unacceptable. But, I had to publish it, so that people will know your folly of posting such a stupid good for nothing piece of art work

As far as curd rice is concerned, it depends from person to person. You are the only person whome I know hater thayir sadam. I would say, YOU don't have taste buds.

I am not gonna ask you sorry for my rude reply. If you can play around like a spoilt brat, then I'm no less darling!

I'm glad. I was right, honey :)
You proved it just now.

nice post as usual.

But please Ramya, don't get offended by my following lines.

I agree Ashok's post was rude and not called for. But so was yours reply in the latter part.

I am a hardcore non-vegetarian and you are just the opposite, so does that mean I should castigate your taste buds on having missed out on some of the most delicious of the delicacies? Does that make your taste buds inferior as compare to mine or for that matter your cast and creed you belong to?

No, of course not, simply coz, to each his own.
Anyways, if everybody were to be the same , the world would be a terribly boring place. Isn't it?

And please don't take my views otherwise, as they are simply what they are- my views, nothing more important.

@ Ashok - Thou art showing attitude in MY Space! Shoo! Shoo! I'm right in my place, you're just another nagging stereotype who thinks that ALL Iyers are caste-ists. Fly away you nagging birdie! I don't WANT you here!

@ Sumit - Ahem, I still don't feel non-veg is a delicacy. How can one take pleasure in KILLING something and eating it, beats me! but, never the less, I have heard this comment many times, and I'm not affected by them.
I know I'm rude to Ashok Kumar, can't help being rude...he just created a BIG issue out of a small statement.
I have come across many posts here in blogosphere which are totally opposite to my views. But, I opt not to comment on them, rather than offending the other person. I know that I would feel bad when people offend me, then even that blogger would feel bad.

Ashok Kumar said...

Attitude? Oh, what was that? I didn't know I had one, thanx for letting me know :)What I can infer from your previous comment is that given a chance you would offend everyone who have a totally opposite opinion to you.

No one was offending you. There is a huge difference between 'ALL' and 'A LOT'. Yuck and atleast for me were statements from an individual's perspective. You can't get offended by that. In fact, I never made an attempt in showing attitude. You brought it out, dear :)

Shame on you was not 'YOU'. I was addressing who ever are doing this to people.Stop being a 'RACIST'. I am an IYER myself.

Grow up, little girl. You can't Shoo away people like that. Your strategy failed to show me as a spoilt brat first time and now since your defences have weakened, u are calling me a 'Nagging Birdie' and you don't want me here.

That is allright but atleast put up a good fight than losing like this!

sumit Das said...

Must say thanx for proving my point. You don't think non-veg is a delicacy, fine . But you know there are people called vegans who will share the same viewpoint as yours towards curd-rice. Now, do you plan to make them stand in a line and shoot them up for not sharing your taste buds?

ramya said...

@ Ashok - All Indian are of same RACE, you can't be a RACIST among Indians! :-P
Though, you can be a Caste-ist or communistic. I'm none.
You are an Iyer, and you have so much against your community. Don't mind, the iyer community is odd in itself. But, pointing out to one person, and telling her that SHE is wrong, now THAT's a spoilt brat behavious, and thats MY induvidual perspective.
But, let me tell you, the Bhramin way of living is the best. Keeping all the higher-lower caste things aside also. Why you ask? The morning prayers, i.e. sandya vandanam is not only the "mantras". It has so many breathing excersices, that keeps you healthy. Vegetarianism is another way to keep you healthy.

Ashok Kumar said...

I was never a Racist. Neither am I a Casteist nor Communist. I would stop existing without 'God'. He is the very reason for my being. Epicentre. I am not having anything against my community. It is just that, I have observed the said behaviour many times in school and college.

Even at home, they would never allow a servant-maid to enter the kitchen as if she is impure and my people are the epitome of goodness and purity. She is a human being, right? How would she feel? The same God resides in her too, besides being in the pooja shrine of the house.

When did I point out to you and said, YOU are wrong? No Darling, Wrong Perception! I meant Him/Her. It could be anyone.I never mentioned you Specifically. So, it was not a 'Spoilt Brat' Behaviour.

I agree that the Brahmin way of living is the best. It has Ten Thousand Years of unbroken glorious tradition. Sanatana Dharma, pulses in my veins. But I get hurt, when some of my friends not include others who are equally close but get alienated coz of 'They are not Brahmins, why Bother' Mindset. It should be changed.

Breathing exercises and Mantras go hand in hand to 'Transform' an individual and bring him to the heights of awakening and give him the greatest of attainments. I would agree on that as well.

I'm a Vegetarian and know the benefits of that lifestyle. It brings in all the thankfulness and good intent of animals that are not killed because of our conscious choice to not to eat it. We score Brownie Points for our karma on that Front :)

Aaah xerox machines!!!! Helped me a lot during college days :) Nicely done tag, ramya!

Meena Maami? Meenu Mommy! said...

Ashok.. Everybody in India is a racist in one way or the other and we pretty much accept the comments made by the non-community people. A christian friend of mine is scared to death that his baby will turn out to be a "brahmin" since his wife is not at all eating non-veg in her pregnancy. hehehehe

ramya said...

@ Meenu - haahaha.. WHO thinks THAT way meenu????
PLEASE, its not Racist, its Communalistic! I thought both of us discussed the way to right word.. when we heard the appa's Mother Hospital incident! Racist will be among people of different countries right?

Ashok Kumar said...

@Meenakshy: You are right! Good insight with an anectode. These days, people's horizons have shrunk with the expansion in Technology. Discrimination has become rampant everywhere.

A student from the forward community does not get a seat in medical college even if his score is well above 90%. Money and communalistic principles go deeper than the marks and distinction secured.

The Movie 'Bombay' gives an amazing projection of this aspect in our society. Where the kid erases the ash on the forehead of its grandfather when he enters a sensitive area of the community.

I hope the movie climax happens in our lives too, very shortly. People drop their vendetta in the end against others from a different community.

The day when everyone decides to come out of their little narrow paths to step on the wider lanes of humanity with Compassion for fellow human beings, that day everyone would be happy and free of preconcieved notions!
